Witches, or hedge-witches, are mundanes who partake in witchcraft and have learned a little magic.[1][2] The term is also sometimes used to refer to female warlocks.[3]

Known witches

  • Witch-hunting became a fad in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in Europe, during which either innocent mundanes, real warlocks and even werewolves were lynched. For a time before the practice died out, Shadowhunters supported this false belief in hopes that it would lead to mundanes being able to take care of themselves against demons.[1]
