Clive Cartwright was a Shadowhunter and a student of the Shadowhunter Academy in the 1890s.
History[]
In 1899, Clive was one of Alastair's friends at the Academy and was among those who frequently bullied James Herondale, a Shadowhunter boy, for his demonic heritage.
When students were sent to the woods for a training exercise of fighting demons, the older students were tasked with freeing the demons from their Pyxis for the younger ones to encounter and slay. While the Academy-sanctioned demons were those believed to be mostly harmless for the students, Clive and his friends decided to try to scare James out of the Academy by releasing a more dangerous Vetis demon that ended up killing Clive.[1]
